3 Things I DON’T Do To My Locs

This year July will mark 6 years since I’ve had my beautiful luscious locs.

Here are 3 things that I DON’T do to them:

  1. Use gel to interlock/retwist. I use oils such as Coconut, Jojoba/Avocado. When I last retwisted my locs (2 weeks ago) I tried Rose water. All these products I have just mentioned, moisturise/dampen/soften the locs during the rewisting process, as well as moisturises your hair. I personally don’t use ALREADY MADE gels because I am afraid of possible build up. However, I have seen via YouTube that some locs wearers make their own natural hair gels in order to combat this problem.
  2. USE OIL SHEEN SPRAY. This is a personal preference to be honest with you. I find that already made oil sheen sprays (bought in stores) contain mineral oil, and I am trying to avoid such ingredients being use on my locs/scalp. I instead use the products mentioned in the above point as they cater to all of my hairs needs.
  3. DYE IT MYSELF. In the almost 6 years that I’ve had my locs, I’ve 98% of the time got a professional to dye it for me. The reason for this is because I do not want to leave in the dye for too long, or too little. Playing guessing game with the wait duration for my hair to absorb the colour, could potentially damage my hair. A professional will ALWAYS know what it best for your hair, and so I’d much rather pay for them to colour my babies!

I plan on doing more posts/vlogs about locs. If you would like me to cover any topics in regards to this, please drop me an email on missboansi@hotmail.com and I will do my best to cover them.
